As 2018 is a few days away, I would like to take a step back and reflect on what I have learned this year. This year has had it’s ups and downs, good times and bad. But it’s been a good year nonetheless. As I sit in front of my laptop, I am content at what this year has held and what I have learned. That being said, let’s get on with this post.
I have changed in more ways than one. I am a totally different person now, than I was at the beginning of this year. Although change can be scary at times, always welcome it.
Never beg for friendship. It’s beneath me to beg for anyone to be my friend.
Some people will like me or they won’t. It doesn’t really bother me. The main thing is that I like me. That is enough.
If you don’t like me, it’s because I don’t want you to.
It’s okay to be happy alone. There is nothing wrong with it. I have learned more about myself by being alone than by being around people.
It’s ok to like things people don’t understand.
Forgive. The only person who needs my forgiveness to move on in life, is myself.
Announcing every single thing happening in my life, on social media isn’t necessary. It doesn’t mean that nothing is happening in my life. I just don’t need to share my life on social media with people who are irrelevant.
Just because I let people back into my life, does not mean they have changed. A snake can change it’s skin more than once, but it’s still snake.
Saying “NO” more often, is good. It saves me from people walking all over me.
I have learned to love myself more without no strings attached. I am teaching myself everyday, to love myself without needing a reason to. And to tell you the truth, it’s been the best relationship that I have ever been in.
Carrying flats in your bag, is a lifesaver when wearing heels all night.
No matter what, I will NEVER give up on myself.
I salute 2017 with a champagne glass in hand, with the book of this year, ready to throw into the fire. Letting all the hurt, anger, sadness go and walking into 2018 with a clear heart and mind ready to take on another book of my life.
Here’s to 2018, let’s make this a year to remember.
